POSITION AVAILABLE: PRODUCTION PLANNER

Location: St Thomas

Education: OSSD or Equivalent

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor

DESCRIPTION:

Plan and schedule Finished Goods and/or Components and the supporting operations as required in the respective manufacturing departments to effectively and efficiently achieve three core goal:

  1. Provide maximum customer service (measured by Fill Rate Performance)
  2. Inventory Optimization (measured by Inventory Turns and Days of Supply)
  3. Provide a meaningful, attainable schedule for the production team (measured by Schedule Attainment)

This position is critical to Masco Canada.  Primary goals are to maximize fill rate service levels for peak customer service while optimizing inventories.  

Masco Canada manages its inventory investment which is a critical component to the ROA and ROI performance measures.  

This position operates with a high level of autonomy and therefore must have good levels of experience in our systems, products and analysis skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Short and long term production planning to maintain fill rate service level of 97% or greater.
    • Develop and maintain production schedules for the assigned departments
      • Timely release of updated schedules.
      • Maintenance of schedules and work orders.
      • Schedule integrity/feasibility analysis.
      • Adjusting production dates to accommodate deliveries of required components.
      • Daily maintenance and issuance of reports as required  (DPL, Priority etc)
      • Monitor Quality issues that impact fill rates 
    • Coordinate sub-contract operations (if required)
      • Release and coordinate flow of materials to outside plating/vendors
      • Validate receipts of materials from outside platers/vendors
      • Trouble shoot issues as they arise
    • Inventory calculations; monitoring levels and targets
    • Prepare and coordinate such activities and reports as required
      • Daily Fill Rate Misses and weekly summary
      • Build ahead situations for peak demand periods
      • Backorder reports, Aged Orders Reports for Customer Service

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Change Order input ; new part set up
  • Operations Dashboard Summary
  • Customer Service Spreadsheet
  • Various projects to support the team/departmental goals
  • Act as a backup to the other Planners and Planning Supervisor as required

Health & Safety

  • Maintain a safe workplace
  • Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor
  • Comply with the company policies and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
  • Report unsafe conditions as soon as possible

5S:

  • Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards
  • Follow daily 5S standards as posted in your dept
  • Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 Years of experience in a Production Planning, Purchasing or Inventory Control position
  • APICS Certification highly desired
  • Demonstrated excellence in analysis and decision-making
  • Above average computer skills
    • Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), JD Edwards

Educational Requirements:

  • O.S.S.D. or equivalent
  • Community College Diploma or University Degree
    • Preferably in Supply Chain Management or related field

Additional Skills / Knowledge Requirements / Other:

  • Superior communication skills
  • Self-starter and requiring little supervision
  • Leadership and consensus building skills
